
About Len Barry
Hailing from West Phillie way,
Len Barry was born Leonard Borisoff on June 12 1942. He began his music career
singing streetcorner harmony ("doo wop") in 1957

In 1958 he first appeared on record as the lead vocalist with The Bossrones,
singing "Mope-Itty Mope". Barry also was a member of the singing group, The Dovells from 1957 to 1963.
The "Bristol Stomp" teen warblers were known as being "wise asses" around the
Brill (1619 Broadway) and Wintergarden (1650 Broadway) music industry buildings in New York.
When Decca offered Len Barry a solo record deal, he recorded two hits in 1965 and 1966 for Decca Records:
"1-2-3", and "Like a Baby", both of which were hit singles.
1-2-3 went to #2, "Like A Baby" only got to #27 on the national Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Both songs were part composed by Barry and Dave White, backup singer with Danny & the Juniors (J60).
The writing team of Holland-Dozier-Holland claimed plagurism on 1-2-3 and prevailed in litigation
When the hits ended, Len Barry continued performing his lounge act, and later moved into songwriting and production work with WMOT Productions.
